Club Career

Club(s) Played Sunday League football with Senrab FC and also a product of the FA's National School of Excellence at Lilleshall, Defoe was signed by Charlton Athletic FC Youth in 1997. Signed for West Ham United FC in July 1999 for £1.15 million (93 league appearances, 29 goals). Loaned to AFC Bournemouth from 25 October 2000 until May 2001 (29 league appearances, eighteen goals). On 10 January 2014, Defoe left Spurs for the MLS, effective from 28 February 2014. He had scored 48 goals in 137 Premier League games, before leaving for Toronto FC. After less than a year, and eleven goals in nineteen MLS appearances, Sunderland AFC signed Defoe on 16 January 2015 for an undisclosed fee, plus Jozy Altidore. He scored 34 goals in 87 Premier League appearances, up until Sunderland AFC were relegated into the Championship in 2016-17, which released a clause in his contract, allowing him to join AFC Bournemouth on a free transfer, on 29 June 2017.
