Notes
Four Everton players started for England at the same time
as early as 6 April 1891, John Holt, Fred Geary, Alf Milward and Ed Chadwick
all starred against Scotland in Blackburn.
Four also started in the 1986 World Cup finals on three
different occasions. Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, Peter Reid and Gary
Lineker all started against Poland, Paraguay and Argentina, on 11, 18 and 22
June 1986.
Four Everton players also represented England in the 1969
South American tour. Goalkeeper Gordon West, Brian Labone and Alan Ball
all started, Tommy Wright came on as a substitute, against Mexico, on 1 June
1969.
Another four appeared a year later in the 1970 World Cup
Finals, Keith Newton, Brian Labone and Alan Ball all started. Tommy
Wright came on as a substitute, although it was for Newton, in the opening
match against Romania on 2 June 1970.
A further four representatives appeared for England against
Switzerland, 28 May 1988, Gary Stevens and Trevor Steven started, Dave Watson
and Peter Reid were substitutes.
