Nothing regarding his vocation, but Lamming acknowledges that Johnson was still a holder of Manchester City's seasonal and aggregate League goal total records. From February 1939, Johnson ran the Crown Inn, a public house in Gorton, and lived in the area for the remainder of his life. He had been running the Woodman Inn in Stockport before then. - An English Football Internationalists' Who's Who. Douglas Lamming (1990). Hatton Press, p.145.
