Club Career

Club(s) Began his career with Don & Dearne Schools and becoming and then signing amateur forms with Blackpool FC in 1958, turning professional in April 1960. Everton paid 27,500 pounds to sign West, then a British record transfer fee for a goalkeeper.  Left the game for a short spell before joining Tranmere Rovers FC in October 1975, becoming their reserve team coach, until he retired in 1978.
