Diary

Sunday, 7 February 2010 - England will re-unite with one of their oldest rivals when they meet neighbours Wales in their UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, but they'll also face Montenegro for the very first time.  ngland also take on Switzerland, who were Fabio Capello's first opponents as England manager almost two years ago to the day. The other Group G opponent will be Bulgaria.

Monday, 15 March 2010 - At a meeting in Zurich the participant countries of Group G failed to reach agreement over the fixture progamme for the Euro 2012 qualification games.

Thursday, 25 March 2010 - UEFA have completed the draw for the qualification process for Euro 2012 at UEFA ExCo in Israel, with England now knowing their fixture schedule in Group G.  England begin with Bulgaria at home on Friday 3 September, before travelling to Switzerland four days later.

Monday, 23 May 2011 - Fulham striker Bobby Zamora has been called up for the England squad to face Switzerland in the Euro 2012 qualifier on 4 June at Wembley.  Zamora is joined by Fulham team-mate David Stockdale, who is one of three keepers alongside Manchester City's Joe Hart and West Brom's Scott Carson.  Manchester United's Michael Carrick is also recalled to the 26-man squad.  Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, left out of the Under-21s squad, is included while Wayne Rooney is suspended.

Tuesday, 24 May 2011 - West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green has been called into the England squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland on 4 June. The 31-year-old replaces Fulham's David Stockdale, who is getting married the day before the Wembley match. Stockdale is believed to have told England's management he was still willing to join up with the squad. But coach Fabio Capello instead opted to call up Green, who reportedly originally asked not to be considered. It is believed that Green made the request because of off-field distractions - the keeper's wife gave birth last Tuesday, while his club have recently been relegated from the Premier League.

Wednesday, 25 May 2011 - Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has withdrawn from the England squad.  The 28-year-old, who played the full ninety minutes against Birmingham City on Sunday, pulled out with an unspecified injury.  England boss Fabio Capello has decided against calling up a replacement.

Wednesday, 1 June 2011 - Midfielder Michael Carrick has pulled out of the England squad to face Switzerland on Saturday because of injury.  The Manchester United player suffered a knock in the Champions League final defeat by Barcelona.  He reported to the England squad with the injury and has been unable to train and has been released back to Manchester United's medical staff.
