Birth Monday, 10 October 1966 at Oldchurch Hospital, Romford, Essex, to Alexander and Caroline (née Banks)
Lived as a child at 6 Foxlands Road, Dagenham.

On 6 May 1990, Adams crashed his Ford Sierra into a wall near his house in Southend-on-Sea, and when breathalysed he was found to be more than four times over the legal drink-drive limit. Playing Career

Club(s): Played with Romford Royals as a six year old, also Gidea Park Royals, before he played with Dagenham United FC, a club formed by his father. During his junior career, he played with Barking & Dagenham schoolboys, Essex County boys and London Schools, of which he was 'captain of all of them,' he had trials with West Ham United FC, Orient FC and Fulham FC. He was also invited to have a trial with Manchester United FC.  Signed for Arsenal FC as an associated schoolboy on 10 October 1980, his fourteenth birthday, before signing professional forms on 30 January 1984, two months after his league debut. Became club captain in March 1988 for the next fourteen years, until his retirement on 11 August 2002.

Adams applied for the vacant managerial position at Brentford FC in the 2001-02 close season, but his application was rejected. Undeterred, Adams went on to manage Division Two side, Wycombe Wanderers FC from 5 November 2003 until his resignation on 9 November 2004. He then took up minor coaching roles with Dutch sides Feyenoord Rotterdam and FC Utrecht, before becoming Harry Redknapp's assistant manager at Portsmouth FC on 28 June 2006. Shortly after winning the FA Cup, he took over managerial responsibilities on 25 October 2008, until his sacking on 9 February 2009.
Appointed manager of Azerbaijan side, Qabala FC on 11 May 2010 until the end of the 2011-12 season. He returned to Qabala as their Sporting Director in October 2012. Arsenal FC U18s Development Coach in 2016. On 10 April 2017, Adam's was appointed manager at Granada CF, in the hope of keeping the struggling side in the La Liga. The club was relegated
, having lost all seven games he was in charge.

Beyond England

In September 2000 - as a result of his own experiences with alcoholism and drug addiction, Adams founded the Sporting Chance Clinic, a charitable foundation aimed at providing treatment, counselling and support for sports men and women suffering from drink, drug or gambling addictions. - Addicted, Tony Adams.
During the 2020 CoVid pandemic, Adams also founded Six Mental Health Solutions, to provide mental health and addiction services to employees across a range of partnered businesses. SIX MHS has formed partnerships with several organisations, including Jewson in 2021, and the Football Writers' Association in 2024. He is also a patron of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA UK), The Forward Trust, School-Home Support (SHS), and Saving Faces, a facial surgery research foundation.
