2012 -
The FA is risking the wrath of Premier League managers by
arranging an England 'home' friendly against Italy in August, to be
held in Switzerland, at the Azzurri at the 32,000-seater Stade de
Suisse in Bern on 15 August, just three days before the league season
restarts. Wembley has been overlooked as a venue as the set Fifa date
for summer friendlies comes too close to the climax of the Olympic
Games in London, with the men's final taking place on 11 August.

		  Friday,
		  10 August
2012 - Manchester United's
Michael Carrick has been recalled to the 22-man England squad for
Wednesday's friendly against Italy. The 31-year-old asked not to be
considered for international duty last January, having not featured at
the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. But with Scott Parker and Gareth
Barry ruled out, Carrick has been recalled in midfield alongside Frank
Lampard. Jake Livermore, Ryan Bertrand, Daniel Sturridge and Tom
Cleverley are also included. Chelsea's Gary Cahill, who missed Euro
2012 with a broken jaw, is recalled along with Tottenham defender Kyle
Walker, who also missed the tournament through injury.

		  The FA maintain
Terry's omission has nothing to do with the Chelsea captain's upcoming
disciplinary hearing over a charge of racial abuse against Anton
Ferdinand. The governing body made clear when it charged him on 27
July over the Ferdinand incident that he would still be available to
		  play for England.

		  Sunday,
		  12 August
2012 - Joe Hart missed
Manchester City's 3-2 win over Chelsea in the traditional
season-opener, the FA Community Shield, due to a minor back injury. It
was enough to withdraw him from England's squad, leaving the way open
for a debut for either John Ruddy or Jack Butland.  If it is
Butland, he will become England's youngester keeper.
		  Daniel Sturridge
also participated in the Community Shield match, but left with a toe
injury.  He has also withdrawn from the squad. Roy Hodgson has
not planned to bring any replacements.
		  Meanwhile,
Manchester City have signederton's Jack Rodwell for an undisclosed
fee. Althougherton value at Rodwell at £15 million, he has signed
for £12 million, rising to £17 million.

		  Monday,
		  13 August
2012 - Alex
Oxlade-Chamberlain is the latest player to withdraw from the squad
following an ankle injury.  Roy Hodgson has called up Joleon
		  Lescott as cover.

		  Goalkeepers Jack
Butland and John Ruddy are likely to make their England debuts, with
the possibility that they will play 45 minutes each.

		  Tuesday,
		  14 August
2012 - Theo Walcott becomes
the fourth and latest player to pull out of the squad. He has suffered
		  with a thigh injury.
