Description
	Red short-sleeved, collared shirt, with red rectangular insert, fastened with a top white button and a second, red button. Seams cut to an overlapping v-shape at each hem, with a St. George cross underneath. Embroidered gold emblem on left breast and a gold star above the emblem. Commemorative logo underneath the emblem, with 150 YEARS in white on a gold riband and the years 1863 and 2013 in gold either side of it. White Swoosh on right breast, white number in centre of chest and on reverse, in same font as on new white shirt, with surname in capitalised white lettering in an arc above number on reverse in same font. Red emblem at base of each number on reverse. Reinforcing red rounded rubber upper-case T-shaped bar across top of each sleeve seam and then along shoulder seam towards the neck. Eleven rounded red rectangular plastic strips running horizontally across to each side seam on the inside of the front of the shirt, with eight ventilation holes on the uppermost, followed by strips of seven, six and five holes, then two of four holes, two of three holes and three of two holes on the lowest strips. Rectangular obsidian label on left hip with AUTHENTIC in large white capitalised letters, with two white lines underneath, followed by DESIGNED TO THE EXACT SPECIFICATIONS OF CHAMPIONSHIP ATHLETES in white capitalised letters below, with a white Swoosh to the left of a nine-digit serial number in white at the bottom of the label. DRI-FIT in capitalised white lettering embroidered onto right hip. White shorts, with white drawstring, and white rounded rubber upper-case T-shaped bar running down each seam and towards each other across the back. Red number on left thigh, in same font as on shirt, with red Swoosh underneath. Embroidered gold emblem on right thigh. Red socks, with a thin white band across the tops and a white Swoosh on shin. Patterned footings in two shades of grey, with DRI-FIT in capitalised dark-grey lettering on each instep. England's captain wore a plain white armband.
Variations	The shirts worn by Ashley Cole also included his first initial i.e. A. COLE, despite Carlton and Joe Cole making their last appearances in 2010. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain only included his paternal family name (CHAMBERLAIN) on his shirts. The shirt worn by Glen Johnson (against Ukraine) also included his first initial i.e. G. JOHNSON. Against Ukraine, England had the 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP BRAZIL QUALIFIERS logo embroidered onto the right sleeve and the MY GAME IS FAIR PLAY FIFA logo on the left sleeve. In the game against Ukraine, Frank Lampard wore 100TH CAP in gold on the chest, beneath the buttoned insert.
Most Appearances	2 - Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole (1 sub), Phil Jagielka, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Theo Walcott 19 players wore this shirt in the two games; one a friendly and the other, a World Cup qualifier. Only Cole and Walcott of the six, failed to complete both games. No players made their international debut in the shirt, but Jack Rodwell made his third and last appearance, as a substitute against Brazil. Frank Lampard became the third player in ten months to win his hundredth England cap, following Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole.
Top Scorers	1 - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wayne Rooney Two quality strikes in the Maracanã saw Brazil rocking on their heels, until they conjured up an equaliser to rescue a draw.
Captains	1 - Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard Lampard deputised for Gerrard against Brazil, because the regular skipper was having surgery on a shoulder injury.
Four days after Nike's first England kit made its debut, its sister away kit appeared in the grand setting of Rio de Janeiro's Maracanã. As the designated away kit, it only actually appeared in away games and there were only two of them, but both were tough, high-profile fixtures in which England acquitted themselves well. The switch to Nike meant a return to familiar red shirts, following Umbro's dalliance with galaxy blue. England now had to cast aside memories of the horrors of Bloemfontein, their last foray into red shirts at the 2010 World Cup. It was a smart shirt, but it didn't look like a football shirt; more like a polo shirt for casual wear, but the emblem rendered entirely in gold really stood out and it was a shame that the full international team only wore it twice. Nine days after its debut, the Under-21 team wore red shorts with it (including the gold emblem, white numbers and white Swoosh) against Israel in the Euro 2013 Championship in Jerusalem.

Although Joe Hart is modelling the gold goalkeeping kit in this promotional shot, it was only ever worn with the white home kit. The green kit always accompanied the red away kit, yet Hart wore the green in the promotional shots with the white kit! Could this have been a last-minute change of plan, or an administrative cock-up?
