All information is complete to and including England's last match, the first of the 2023-24 season, against Ukraine on 9 September 2023.

Diary

Sunday, 9 October 2022 - England have been drawn in the same group as Italy - the team that beat them in Euro 2020 final. Ukraine, North Macedonia and Malta are the other teams drawn into Group C.

Monday, 10 October 2022 - The fixtures for Group C qualification group are announced.

Thursday, 31 August 2023 - Gareth Southgate names his 26-man squad, and has included Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire. Henderson left Liverpool for Saudi Arabia last moth and Maguire makes the squad despite not featuring for his club this season. Their are first call-ups for Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah and Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill. Raheem Sterling misses out again but their is a recall for Fikayo Tomori.

Monday, 4 September 2023 - As the players gather at St. George's Park for their first day of training. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jack Grealish both withdraw from the squad. Alexander-Arnold was replaced in Liverpool's Premier League match against Aston Villa because of a hamstring issue, whereas Grealish missed Manchester City's visit of Fulham. Gareth Southgate has decided against calling up any replacements at the moment. Manchester United's injured defender Luke Shaw also attended St. George's Park to help in his recovery.

Tuesday, 5 September 2023 - 21 of the 24 players are enjoying training outdoors toady, with Bukayo Saka, Callum Wilson, and Levi Colwill all receiving personal training sessions indoors. The numbers are made up by three members of the under-20 squad, Bashir Humphreys, Alfie Devine and Lewis Hall.

Friday, 8 September 2023 - All 24 of the England squad are participating in their final training session ahead of leaving for Poland. They leave Birmingham Airport at 4.06pm, arriving at Wrocław Copernicus Airport at 5.51pm, on board an Air Horizont Boeing 737-4K5 (9H-LAW), flight HAT 4560.

Saturday, 9 September 2023 - England's winning run in their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign came to a halt as they were held to a draw by Ukraine. Ukraine were backed by 40,000 fans in the Tarczynski Arena, giving the game the fervent feel of a home fixture despite the hosts being unable to play in their own country because of the war with Russia. The magnificently noisy backing in Poland turned to a deafening roar when Arsenal's Oleksandr Zinchenko put Ukraine ahead after 26 minutes, turning in a cross from Yukhym Konoplya. England had plenty of possession but lacked creativity and it needed a moment of brilliance from captain Harry Kane to set up the equaliser four minutes before half-time, dropping back almost to the halfway line before sending a magnificent raking pass to play in Kyle Walker for his first international goal on his 77th appearance. Gareth Southgate's side had the better of the second half, going close when Bukayo Saka's shot was turned on to the bar by the slightest touch from Ukraine keeper Georgiy Bushchan. England are still firmly on course to qualify from Group C for next summer's Euros in Germany, but this was a lacklustre performance.
Following the match, the England party boarded at Wrocław Copernicus Airport bound for Glasgow, leaving at 10:28pm CEST on board a 2Excel Aviation Boeing 737-76N (G-NEWG), flight BRO786B, arriving at Glasgow AIrport at 11:37pm BST.

Sunday,10 September 2023 - England begin training ahead of their Scotland friendly match, using the facilities provided by Rangers FC at Auchenhowie, the Rangers FC Training Centre in Milngavie, at the north of Glasgow.

Monday, 11 September 2023 - The two captains, Harry Kane and Andrew Robertson, visit the scene of the very first international football match at the West of Scotland Cricket Ground, Hamilton Crescent in Partick. Robertson is wearing the limited edition Adidas shirt that the Scottish team will adorn tomorrow evening, whereas Kane is wearing a nostalgic shirt equivalent to the very first uniform that will be worn by the England team during their warm-up, and then sold at auction afterwards, to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.
All 24 members of the squad are training at Rangers Training Centre.
