Heskey woke up on Tuesday with a tight hamstring and has returned to Birmingham City for treatment.

Birmingham's Emile Heskey may face Portsmouth on Saturday after a scan showed his knee injury against Osasuna is not as bad as the club feared.  "He will receive intensive treatment throughout the week and we'll see how he is."

Rooney is set to be given the green light to get back out onto the training pitch within two weeks.  Rooney was in Manchester on Friday afternoon to visit the specialist who has been monitoring his progress on his fractured foot.  He was given his six-week x-ray and consultation and there are good signs of healing. Providing there are no setbacks - he should be able to start light jogging by the middle of August.

Rooney is injured in the 27th minute in the match against Portugal.  After x-rays in the local hospital, it is revealed he has a broken metatarsal in his right foot.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reveals that defender Campbell will miss the first six weeks of the new season due to an achilles injury after he was sent home from Arsenal's pre-season tournament in Amsterdam.   He will also miss England's games against Ukraine, Austria and Poland.  Wenger blames the injury on the over protection of Campbell at England's Euro 2004 campaign, due to the lack of training.
