Notes
It was not until 1929 that Boro had two players
representing England in the same line-up, and it happened twice. George
Camsell and Joe Peacock started against France and Belgium, 9 and 11 May 1929.
Camsell scored six goals in the two matches.
George Hardwick and Wilf Mannion started in the same
England line-up in twelve consecutive matches. Starting on 28 September
1946, up until 19 November 1947. Hardwick was captain throughout, and
Mannion scored eight times.
Brian Clough and Ed Holliday both played together twice,
debuting in the same match, against Wales, 17 October 1959. They also
started together eleven days later against Sweden, 28 October 1959.
Paul Merson and Paul Gascoigne started together for England
against Belgium in Casablanca, 29 May 1998.
Gareth Southgate and Ugo Ehiogu both came on as substitutes
against Netherlands, 15 August 2001. Southgate at half-time, Ehiogu
after 50 minutes.
Danny Mills was a half-time substitute against Portugal, 18
February 2004, joining Gareth Southgate for the second half.
