Diary

Saturday, 3 January 2004 - In Birmingham City's FA Cup match against Blackburn Rovers, Matthew Upson fell and seriously injured his ankle.  At first, it was thought it was broken, but tests revealed it is only a serious knock which leaves him facing six weeks on the sidelines and unlikely to face Portugal next month.

Saturday, 24 January 2004 - Emile Heskey has damaged his hamstring in Liverpool's FA Cup match against Newcastle United.  He faces three weeks out and could be doubtful for the England match against Portugal.

Wednesday, 28 January 2004 - John Terry flew back from Chelsea's training camp in La Manga, Spain, for a precautionary scan. Terry and teammate, Robert Huth, both injured their legs in a training ground collision.
