Penalties Missed

1 - Peter Shilton

  • The USSR's Chivadze hit the post.

Whilst Ray Clemence and Joe Corrigan's international careers came to an end, Peter Shilton's just went on and on.

His new understudies were Gary Bailey and Chris Woods. Both were given their first caps in 1985. Woods made the bigger impression and became Shilton's number two.

The kit was discarded for the 1985 end-of-season tour in favour of, what had been, the grey second-choice shirt, but this yellow shirt was restored to first choice after one game of the 1985-86 season, before finally bowing out in the last match before the 1986 World Cup.

It was also worn by Peter Shilton (and Chris Woods as a half-time substitute) in the 4-1 victory over South Korea at Denver, Colorado in the unofficial international on 14th May 1986.
