Ramsey's team secured the 1969 British Championship with a 4-1 victory over Scotland. Southgate's XI were routing Albania 5-0 at Wembley. Winterbottom's team were beating the West German's 3-1. Sven's men were playing out a scoreless draw with Portugal, ending their run in the 2006 World Cup and Eriksson's tenure was over. Robson's XI were starting their Euro 88 campaign disastrously, with a 1-0 defeat to Republic of Ireland.
