Tuesday, 4 May 2021 - Teams will be allowed to select a 26-player squad instead of 23 at this summer's delayed European Championship Finals. The change has been implemented to lessen the load on players after a club season compressed because of the coronavirus pandemic. It will also help managers adapt if outbreaks occur during the tournament.

Gareth Southgate has selected a 33-man provisional squad for the 2020 European Championship Finals to join up this weekend for preparations for the Tournament starting next month. There are first call-ups for Aaron Ramsdale, goalkeeper at relegated Sheffield United, and two defenders, Ben Godfrey and Brighton's Ben White. There is also a recall for Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold. But there is still no place for Leeds United's inform striker, Patrick Bamford.

Saturday, 29 May 2021 - The England squad, with the exception of the Manchester City and Chelsea players, who are participating in the Champions League Final in Porto, arrive at their North-East training base in Hurworth-on-Tees. Their facilities, at Rockliffe Hall, is the training base of Middlesbrough FC.

Sunday, 30 May 2021 & Monday, 31 May 2021 - The England squad, excluding those players in the Champions League, are involved in training in the sunshine at Rockliffe. Those missing players will join up with the squad on Friday and will probably miss the match against Romania.

Tuesday, 1 June 2021 - Manchester United have confirmed that Mason Greenwood has withdrawn from the provisional squad due to an underlying injury.
Twenty of the squad are out training at Rockliffe. Jadon Sancho misses out because of a throat infection.
5.00pm - With usual pomp and ceremony, the European Championship squad is revealed, along with the squad numbers. The six losing out are the three debutant call-ups Aaron Ramsdale, Ben Godfrey and Ben White, as well Jesse Lingard, James Ward-Prowse and Ollie Watkins.

Wednesday, 2 June 2021 - Early team news confirms that Jordan Henderson will not start tonight, but will be involved at some point. Jadon Sancho is still poorly with a throat infection. Southgate also confirms that Jack Grealish's workload needs to be managed.
England 1 Austria 0 - England's countdown to the Euro's continued with a narrow win over Austria at Riverside Stadium - but they suffered an injury setback as Liverpool defender Trent Alexander Arnold limped off late on. Southgate saw his experimental side secure victory when Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka crowned a fine move with an angled finish for his first international goal after 56 minutes. Southgate's main concern is the injury picked up by Terence Trent-Arnold towards the end.

Thursday, 3 June 2021 - It has now confirmed that the injury received by Terence Alexander-Arnold towards the end of last night's match was a tear inn his thigh muscle, ruling him out of the 2020 European Championship Finals. Southgate will not confirm his replacement until after Sunday's friendly match.
The Manchester United players, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Dean Henderson and Marcus Rashford, have joined up with the England players at Rockliffe Park.

Friday, 4 June 2021 - More arrivals in the morning Rockliffe Park sunshine as the players from Chelsea FC and Manchester City FC arrive. Kyle Walker, John Stones, Mason Mount, Phil Foden, Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling, are among those arriving in the Darlington complex. They join in with training in the afternoon.

Saturday, 5 June 2021 - The squad are out training in Rockliffe, with the exception of Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and Bukayo Saka, who are all following a personal training programme indoors to manage their workload.
