This kit was originally issued as England's second-choice goalkeeping kit for the 1990 World Cup, but was not required because England did not meet any opponents in yellow shirts to clash with the first-choice yellow shirt.  It eventually appeared on the 1991 tour, where it enjoyed a brief spell as first choice, before being discarded in favour of the yellow shirt at the beginning of the 1991-92 season.

The photographs above are of the shirt issued to Chris Woods for the 1990 World Cup, kindly provided by Simon Shakeshaft, curator of the National Football Shirt Collection. The England Match Shirts website contains more shirts from the Neville Evans Collection. The FIFA WORLD CUP ITALY '90 lettering was removed when the kit appeared in match play for the first time, the following year.
