1897].
Lamming confused a Dartford-born Tunstall with the Tunstall
that was born in Darfield. |

census, Fred is the fourth of five children to Thomas and Annie M., they
live at 21 Pit Street in Darfield. His father is a hewer in the local
coalmine. |

According to the 1911
census, Fred, a pony driver in the coalmines, is the third of five
children on the census, he is one of eleven children and three had died.
His father remains in the coalmines as well. They still live at 21 Pit
Street.. |

According to Passenger Lists, Fred Tunstall was part of the FA
Tour that left Southampton bound for Quebec, Canada on 15 May 1926 on
board the Empress of Scotland, they returned to Liverpool on 23 July 1926
on board the Montroyal. His address is stated as 3 Main Street in Wombwell,
Barnsley |

Began
his junior career playing with Darfield St. George's FC before he joined
Midland League club, Scunthorpe & Lindsey United FC in 1920. On 4 December
1920, Ahead of Derby County FC and Nottingham Forest FC, Sheffield United
FC paid a non-league record £1000 transfer fee for his services.
He remained, completing 437 league appearances
and scored 129 goals, until Halifax Town AFC signed him on 3
February 1933. After forty goals in 105 league
appearances, he was transferrred to Boston United FC on 31 July
1936 until he retired from playing. |
