Born 31 March 1910 at 2 Office Street in Wheatley Hill, County Durham [registered in Easington, June 1910].
Attended Bearpark School.

According to the 1911 census, Lewis is the youngest of three children to John and Jinnie, living in Wingate. His father is an overman at the local colliery.

According to the 1939 register, Lewis Stoker, who is still single, is a special police constable, living with the Garratt's at 86 Cyril Road in Birmingham.

Died 26 May 1979, aged 69 years 56 days [registered in Birmingham, June 1979].

Club Career

Club(s) Played schoolboy football in Durham and junior football with Brandon FC and Esh Winning FC. He went on to play with Bearpark FC and West Stanley FC, from where he earned a trial with Birmingham FC, who then signed him a month later in September 1929, making his debut in December 1930. Stoker remained at St. Andrews, making 229 Division One appearances, scoring twice, until Nottingham Forest FC signed him for a 'substantial fee' on 26 May 1938, a few weeks after he was placed on the 'open transfer list', and he made eleven more league appearances.
