Born 2 May 1901 at 130 Shrubland Street in Leamington, Warwickshire [registered in Warwick, June 1901].

Census Notes

According to the 1901 census, George H and Mary Ann. are about who became the proud parents of their only child. Sadly, the West Indian Mary would die soon after giving birth to George. They live at 130 Shrubland Street in Leamington.

According to the 1911 census, George Henry is the only son to widower George. They both live with George snr's mother, Charlotte and her other children and grandchildren, at 27 Eagle Street in Leamington. George snr is a house painter.
According to Passenger Lists, George Green was one of seventeen footballers who, courtesy of Canadian Pacific Railway Company, had left the port of Southampton on 22 May 1937, bound for Quebec, Canada, on the Empress of Australia.

Club Career

Club(s) Began playing junior football in the North Warwickshire League, on the Windmill Ground, for Leamington Town FC. He signed professional forms on 25 August 1921 for Nuneaton FC in the Birmingham League, playing as a right-half and captain, during which time he also represented Birmingham FC at junior level. Many league clubs were tracking him, but it was Sheffield United FC who signed him on 3 May 1923, after his wife, Dorothy, sanctioned the move. United moved him to the left, and he eventually became club captain and after 393 league appaearnces and ten goals, he returned home when he rejoined Leamington Town FC as their captain in July 1934. he ended his playing days on 1 May 1937 when the club folded.
