Arthur Cowell, Blackburn Rovers' international left full back, and
Miss Mary Ann Knowles, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
Knowles, 43, Lord Derby-street, Blackburn. The ceremony was
performed by the Rev. H. Harrop. Mr. John Cowell,
brother of the bridegroom, was the best man. After the ceremony, a
reception was held at the Orange Hall. The honeymoon is being
spent at the Isle of Man. A large number of presents were
received."

"FAMOUS ROVER DIES "Mr. Arthur
Cowell, former England international and full back partner of the late Bob
Crompton in Blackburn Rovers
championship teams of 1911-12 and 1913-14, died today at his home in
Sandy-lane, Lower Darwen. He played for England against Ireland in 1910.
Between the wars he became Rovers' head trainer for a time. He was
afterwards in business with his son as a newsagent in Darwen"
