Diary

Wednesday, 9 March 2016 - Danny Blind names a provisional squad for the upcoming friendlies against France and England. Included in the squad for the first time are Utrecht centre back Timo Letschert, Ajax left back Mitchell Dijks, and AZ striker Vincent Janssen, who has been firing on all cylinders this season. PSV midfielder Davy Propper also receives a deserved recall, but their are no places for Anwar El Ghazi, Leroy Fer, Bruno Martins Indi or former captain Robin van Persie.

Friday, 18 March 2016 - Danny Blind has confirmed his 25-man squad, the notable absentees are Stoke City's Ibrahaim Afellay and Ajax's Mitchell Dijks, who are both suffering with injuries. Captain Arjen Robben is left out because of a thigh injury.
The squad includes seven players that play their football in the Premiership.

Sunday, 20 March 2016 - Daryl Janmaat, Jurgen Locadia, Erik Pieters and Ron Vlaar have all withdrawn from the squad because of injuries. Danny Blind has called in Feyenoord's Karsdorp, who is uncapped.

Monday, 21 March 2016 - Danny Blind calls up Ibrahaim Afellay and van Aanholt to the squad as the Dutch suffer another withdrawal. Davy Propper will have to wait a little longer for his second appearance because of a foot injury.

Thursday, 24 March 2016 - On the day the world mourns the death of the greatest ever Dutch player, Johan Cryuff, it is announced that tomorrow's friendly against France will be halted after fourteen minutes, and then a minute's silence will be observed. Both teams will also wear black armbands in tribute. The 68-year old, who was taken by lung cancer, was a former player and coach of the Dutch national team and he wore the number 14 shirt.

Friday, 25 March 2016 - Netherlands fail to beat France, and they also lose captain Wesley Sneijder
to injury, being replaced in the first half. Despite a comeback from the Dutch, it is the French that come away victorious.

Saturday, 26 March 2016 - Wesley Sneijder was withdrawn from the squad to face England, following an injury that forced his substitution in last nights match.

Sunday, 27 March 2017 - Goalkeeper Jesper Cillessen is the latest withdrawal from the Dutch squad after breaking his nose in training. This was soon followed by the withdrawal of Davy Klaassen, who injured his knee. Coach Danny Blind as called up replacements Tottenham's Michael Vorm and PSV's Marco van Ginkel.
