Diary

Monday, 3 July 2000 - European Championship winners France start two years of friendly matches when they take on England in Paris in September. The Euro 2000 champions have already qualified for the next World Cup in 2002 after their victory at France 98 and Roger Lemerre's side have no competitive fixtures to look forward to. England have already been lined up as their next opponents at the Stade de France on Saturday 2 September.

Thursday, 24 August 2000 - Kevin Keegan names his 24-man squad for the friendly match against France next month.
Andrew Cole may be given the chance to fill Alan Shearer's England boots. Kevin Keegan has also confirmed that Arsenal defender Tony Adams will captain the side in Paris, with Sol Campbell as vice captain. The England coach has brought Cole back into his squad after injury forced him out of the final party for Euro 2000. Emile Heskey, Michael Owen and Kevin Phillips are the other strikers in Keegan's squad, though there is no immediate indication which combination Keegan will start with.

Thursday, 31 August 2000 - Kevin Phillips is the latest player to withdraw from the squad because of injury.
