Club Career

Club(s) Gary started his football playing at schoolboy level in Bristol. He signed as an apprentice with Bristol Rovers FC in 1977, signing professional on 9 January 1979. He was then diagnosed by the Rovers club doctor with type one Diabetes. It did not deter from his career as after 131 league appearances and ten goals, Tottenham Hotspur FC signed him on 11 August 1982 for £105,000. He would remain a White Hart Lane stalwart for the next sixteen years, playing in 482 league appearances, scoring 27 times, before hanging up his boots on 10 May 1998.
