census, Thomas is the eighth of nine children (six sons) to Thomas and
Mary. His father is a coal hewer and they live at 80 Burtonhead Road in St
Helens. |

According to the 1911
census, Thoams has another younger brother and now he is one of six, now
at 76 Burtonhead Road. His father is retired. Thomas is a haulage hand. In
all, his parents had fourteen children, eleven of which are alive in 1911. |

Played with a varety of amateur clubs, including Sherdley Villa
FC, Sutton Commercial FC, Heywood United FC, Peasley Cross FC and Eccles
Borough FC. It was with Eccles that Tommy had a trial with Manchester
United FC, but it did not work out, and so he joined Liverpool FC in 1916.
He remained at Anfield Road until he joined Clapton Orient FC in 1933 and
retired from playing a year later. |
