Played
junior football in Kent, for Whitstable Town FC and Sheppey United FC,
from where Blackburn Rovers FC signed Harper on 9 May 1923. After
scoring 106 league goals, Sheffield Wednesday FC signed him on 24
November 1927 for under £4000 transfer fee. On 14 March 1929, Tottenham
Hotspur FC signed Harper for another substantial fee. Returned to
Lancashire on 11 December 1931 when Preston North End FC paid £5000 for
Harper and teammate Dick Rowley, for his transfer. Returned to Blackburn
Rovers FC on 10 November 1933 for a £1300 transfer fee. He retired in May
1935 after Rovers placed him on the transfer list. |
