Club Career |

Started as an apprentice for Bristol Rovers FC, signing
professional forms on 20 November 1981, he went on to play 32 league
matches, scoring four times. Torquay United FC signed Curle on 4
November 1983 for £5,000. He scored five times in sixteen appearances,
before he returned to the City side of Bristol before the seasons-end, on
3 March 1984 for £10,000. A successful 121 league appearances,
scoring only the once, saw him being sold to Reading FC on 23 October
1987 for £150,000, where he remained for a year. After forty league
appearances, Curle signed for Wimbledon FC on 21 October 1988 for £500,000. Three goals in 93 Premier League appearances
followed before Curle became the most expensive defender when he signed
for Manchester City FC for £2.5 million on 14 August 1991. Curle remained
at Maine Road for five years, playing 171 league appearances and
scoring eleven times. He was then sold to Wolverhampton Wanderers FC
for £650,000 on 2 August 1996. Another ten goals and another 150
league appearances followed, before Curle joined Sheffield United FC on
a free transfer on 4 July 2000 as a player/coach (57 league
appearances, one goal). He then joined Barnsley FC on 17 August 2002
for two months (eleven league appearances). Curle joined his final
club, Mansfield Town AFC on 1 December 2002, where he remained as
player/manager until he was sacked, December 2004, playing fourteen
times in two years. |

Management Career |
Club(s) |
Mansfield Town FC as player-manager from December 2002 until December
2004. Appointed manager of Chester City FC in May 2005 until
February 2006. Appointed Head Coach at Torquay United FC in February 2007,
which lasted until Torquay's relegation from the Football League in May
2007. Curle then teamed up with Neil Warnock, becoming his coach at
Crystal Palace FC from October 2007, then Queen's Park Rangers FC from 1
March 2010. They were both sacked on 8 January 2012. On 20 February, Curle
was appointed manager of Notts County FC, he was sacked on 3 February
2013. He re-emerged as manager at Carlisle United FC on 19 September 2014,
helping them to retain their Football League status. |
