Notes
Four Blackpool players were in the starting England eleven
against Hungary, 25 November 1953, Harry Johnston, Stan Matthews, Stan
Mortensen and Ernie Taylor.
Three seasiders started for England against Scotland, 14
April 1951 - Johnston, Matthews and Mortensen.
The partnership of Mortensen and Matthews spilled over from
Blackpool and into the England line-up on more than just these two matches.
The pair started for England on no less than twelve occasions from September
1947 to November 1953, winning six and drawing two, with Mortensen scoring
nine goals to Matthews one. After this, Mortensen no longer represented
England, whereas Matthews went on to win a further 18 caps.
