Diary

Monday, 27 September 2021 - Marco Rossi has named a 26-man squad for the next round of World Cup 2022 qualification. Injuries to key man have forced some exclusions, however, Zsolt Nagy and Bálint Vécsei have each received invitations having missed the previous squad. Holender Filip and Négo Loïc also return after missing out because of the coronavirus restrictions last month. Kevin Varga is missing because of an ankle injury. Ádám Szalai suffered a knee injury, for which he underwent surgery only last week, while Gergő Lovrencsics was only able to join up with his team, Hajduk Split, last week.

Tuesday, 5 October 2021 - RB Leipzig's Willi Orbán, who missed his team's match over the weekend because of illness, has delayed his arrival to the camp. His recovery will depend on when he joins up with the squad.

Thursday, 7 October 2021 - Willi Orbán has joined up with the squad after recovering from illness.

Saturday, 9 October 2021 - Hungary 0 Albania 1 - Chelsea loanee Armando Broja scored an amazing solo goal as Albania beat Hungary to go second in the group. After latching onto the ball on the right wing, the Chelsea striker beat his opposing defender three times before picking out the far corner of the Hungarian net with a low shot in the 80th minute.

Monday, 11 October 2021 - Following the defeat to Albania on Saturday night, the Hungary team have lost three players to injury. Willi Orbán has a recurrence of his illness, Dénes Dibusz has an ankle injury and László Klienihesiler has a thigh muscle injury. They have all returned to their clubs. In place of Orbán, from the under-21 set-up, is Parma's Balogh Botond.

Tuesday, 12 October 2021 - England 1 Hungary 1 - Hungary fans fought with police in the opening minutes of tonight's qualifier.
