Diary

Tuesday, 4 November 2014 - Gordon Strachan has called up Rangers midfielder Lewis Macleod has been called up to the Scotland squad for the first time. Stoke City's Phil Bardsley is recalled with Aston Villa right-back Alan Hutton missing out through injury. Celtic utility man Charlie Mulgrew also returns following injury and suspension. He takes the place of Aberdeen defender Mark Reynolds. Sheffield Wednesday striker Stevie May is again included, but there is no place for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Ryan Gauld. Winger Ikechi Anya is named in the squad despite missing Watford's 3-1 weekend win over Millwall through injury. Burnley goalkeeper Matt Gilks retains his place as understudy to Cardiff City's David Marshall and Celtic's Craig Gordon having replaced the injured Allan McGregor in the previous squad.

Sunday, 9 November 2014 - Johnny Russell has been called up to the squad. The uncapped 24-year-old forward replaces Derby County team-mate Craig Bryson, who has been ruled out through injury. Russell scored twice in Saturday's 5-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers , taking his tally for the season to five. Derby lead the Championship, with ex-England manager Steve McClaren describing Russell as "the catalyst" for the team's recent run of good form.

Monday, 10 November 2014 - Hearts defender Callum Paterson has been called into the Scotland squad. The right-back has been drafted in to replace the injured Phil Bardsley. Stoke full-back Bardsley went off after 10 minutes of his side's 2-1 win at Tottenham on Sunday. Paterson, 20, has played for Scotland at various youth levels, but this is his first call-up for the top team.

Thursday, 13 November 2014 - Midfielder James McArthur has been ruled out of Scotland's match against Republic of Ireland tomorrow because of injury.

Friday, 14 November 2014 - Shaun Maloney scores the only goal of the game, with a beautiful curling strike after 74 minutes, as Scotland beat Republic of Ireland by a single goal.

Monday, 17 November 2014 - Gordon Strachan says he is juggling a desire to beat England in Tuesday's friendly with satisfying his squad's hopes of featuring in the game. James Morrison joined Scotland training today but Darren Fletcher did not. "I would love to giveerybody the experience of playing the game, one way or another, but I've got to balance it with wanting to win it. We want to compete and make it as difficult for the other team as possible. England have got terrific players. They were comfortable winners against Slovenia. They could have stepped up any time they felt like it....Darren is not feeling at his best today but he'll be fine, he'll be training tomorrow."
