Diary

Friday, 8 November 2013 - Joachim Löw has named his squad to face Italy and England next weekend.  He has called Borussia Dortmund's Roman Weidenfeller as his only uncapped player. Bayern's Bastian Schweinsteiger misses out because he has to undergo ankle surgery. Lukas Podolski, Mario Gomez and Ilkay Gündogan also miss out through injury.  But Miroslav Klose returns after missing Germany's final two Qorld Cup qualification matches through 'nerve irritation' in his foot.

Sunday, 10 November 2013 - Per Mertesacker will not travel to meet up with his fellow squad members on Monday of the national team after Munich. The Arsenal defender is suffering from flu that also prevented him from taking any part in today's Premier League match against Manchester United. It is not yet decided if he will join up with the squad.

Meanwhile, Miroslaw Klose, Germany's joint all-time top scorer with 68 goals, was injured in Lazio's 1-1 Serie A draw against Parma on Sunday and taken off six minutes from time. He suffered a shoulder injury.

Tuesday, 12 November 2013 - The German national team have revealed a new strip to debut in the match against Italy.  The shirt has a new silver logo adorned on a three-tone red chest band. The biggest change however,  is the replacement of the black shorts to white.

Wednesday, 13 November 2013 - Miroslav Klose has been ruled out of Germany's upcoming friendlies while defender Per Mertesacker will also miss the game in Milan on Friday but will be fit for their trip to London next week.

Friday, 15 November 2013 - Germany draw 1-1 with Italy, but lose Sami Khedira to a knee injury. He has been ruled out for six months.

Sunday, 17 November 2013 - Joachim Löw is to try "new tactical variations and personnel" for the match against England, so has decided to rest Mesut Özil, captain Philip Lahm and Manuel Neuer. Per Mertesacker rejoins the squad after missing the 1-1 draw with Italy on Friday because of illness.
