Diary

Tuesday, 23 May 1995 - Terry Venables named a 23-man squad missing several regulars for a tournament which, while of minor importance in and of itself, he regarded as critical to his preparations for the European Championship 1996 final tournament.  Missing through injury were David Seaman, Rob Jones, Lee Dixon, Neil Ruddock, Steve Howey, Tony Adams, Tim Sherwood, Dennis Wise and Barry Venison.

Thursday, 25 May 1995 - Paul Ince withdrew from the squad after talks with Venables, who named Jamie Redknapp to replace him.  Cleared the day before of criminal charges he assaulted a fan, Ince said:  "At the moment I feel drained. The court case was particularly hard to handle emotionally. I feel it's better for me to go on holiday with my family than play football. I wouldn't want to let England down in any way."

Friday, 2 June 1995 -  Andy Cole withdrew from the squad after seeing a specialist for his persistent shin splints problem.

Monday, 5 June 1995 - Warren Barton leaves Wimbledon FC and joins Newcastle United FC.
