Keeping the corporate mouth shut
 

Nationwide Building Society, reported to have played a huge role in Glenn Hoddle's ouster, are now said to be overjoyed that Kevin Keegan wants the England managerial job on a full-time, permanent basis. That decisions affecting the national side are influenced by the team's sponsor is disturbing, although perhaps it is inevitable that a company that has put out millions for the privilege will be consulted on major decisions.  Sponsors, however, should keep their corporate mouths shut on football-related matters.
