Notes

For the first time in its relatively short history, the Championship is mentioned in, so far, just one newspaper report. Lloyd's Weekly Newspaper, on Sunday, 4 April 1897.  Although all newspaper reports still talk about the annual matches as being a bragging contest.  Only after the final match between, was an 'International Championship' mentioned and a final table was produced.
