Diary

Tuesday, 31 October 2006 - Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooij has again been left out of the Netherlands squad for the friendly against England on November 15.  The Real Madrid forward has had a bust-up with coach Marco van Basten and so his international career remains on hold.  Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has not been included in the 28-man provisional group because he has an agreement with Dutch coaching staff allowing him to decide whether or not he wants to take part in friendly matches for the Oranje.  Van der Sar has opted against taking his place in the squad for the England game, which will be played in the Amsterdam ArenA.  The final squad will be announced on November 10.

Friday, 10th November 2006 - Marco Van Basten trims his squad to twenty.

Sunday, 12th November 2006 - Marco Van Basten has given AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf a recall for Wednesday's friendly.  It is the first time the 30-year-old has been named in a squad under Van Basten and he will replace Ajax's Wesley Sneijder, who has a knee injury.  Van Basten has also recalled AZ Alkmaar defender Tim de Cler.  He will replace Barcelona left-back Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who has a slight Achilles tendon strain.  Seedorf's call-up came after Sneijder was injured in Ajax's 1-0 defeat by PSV Eindhoven on Sunday.

Monday, 13th November 2006 - Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has withdrawn from the squad.  The 23-year-old's wife is expecting their first child.
