Thursday, 11 November 2004 - Luis Aragonés
announced his 18-man squad today to face England next Wednesday in Madrid.  Aragonés
has called up José Maria
Gutiérrez and Valencia
striker Miguel Angulo to his squad for the first time whilst Real Madrid
defender Iván Helguera returns to
the international scene.  Two English players make it into the Spanish
squad - José Antonio Reyes of
Arsenal, and Xabi Alonso of Liverpool, both of whom have enjoyed good starts to
the season.  Valencia midfielder David Albelda
has been ruled out for a month with a thigh injury and Fernando Morientes is
doubtful with a twisted ankle.
	  Monday, 15 November 2004 -
Spain duo Carles Puyol and Iván Helguera have dropped out of the squad.  Barcelona's Puyol has withdrawn with a twisted knee ligament in
his left leg, while Real Madrid's Iván Helguera also has a knee injury that he
sustained in the 6-1 thrashing of Albacete on Sunday night.  Betis' Juanito
and Pablo Orbáiz of Athletic Bilbao have been called up.
	  Tuesday, 16 November 2004 -
Spain's José Reyes has warned Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville to go
easy on him.  Arsenal's Reyes was critical of the
Manchester United duo's behaviour in the recent Premiership game.  "They
were filthy in the United game and if there was kicking going on in another game
it would be very suspicious. I hope Ferdinand and
Neville have forgotten the Arsenal game and don't kick me as much as in
Manchester. The England game won't be very friendly and it won't be
easy.  The England defenders are experienced and their attack
will give us a lot of work to do.  But our manager knows the best way to
play the game against England.  And let us make one thing clear: Spain
wants to win this match."
