As a
schoolboy, Hurst was invited to train with West Ham United FC, and after
he started playing, Arsenal FC also invited him to the club, but he
remained with the Hammers, signing on with the groundstaff as a fifteen
year-old. Initially as a left-half, and after Crytsal Palace FC made an
attempt on him, to boost the Johnny Byrne transfer, in March 1962, Ron
Greenwood moved him upfield to centre-forward. |
