Began with Stockport schools before being employed amongst the groundstaff
at Maine Road in May 1962. Doyle signed professional forms in May
1964, debuting in March 1965 and going on to play 448 league
appearances, scoring 32 times. He joined Stoke City FC in 1978 for
£50,000 and played a further 115 league appearances, scoring just five
times. Joined Bolton Wanderers FC in January 1982, playing forty
times in the league, scoring twice. Finally joining Rochdale FC in
August 1983, and appeared in
24 league matches, scoring just the once, before retiring. |
