Club(s) Played with his junior football at Boston Trinity FC and Boston Town FC, from where he joined Grimsby Town FC in 1930. He made 256 appearances, scoring 95 goals, before he joined Manchester United FC for a £6000 transfer fee in June 1938, scoring twice in eleven appearances, before he joined Birmingham FC at the end of 1938 and made another seventeen appearances, scoring twice. He joined Tamworth United FC in 1939 and remained with them until 1951.
