Club Career

Club(s) Started with his career during WW1 with Blackpool FC, whom we was guesting for. He was noted by Manchester United FC, who took him on a trial, but was rejected. It was on his return to his home, that his local side, Lincoln City AFC signed him on, and in his first season, 1919-20, Beel scored six goals in 23 league appearances. In the summer, Merhtyr Town FC signed him and he responded by scoring 22 goals in 55 league outings. That was enough to get him noticed by Chesterfield FC, and he scored 23 goals in 35 league appearances. In the summer of 1923, many clubs attempted to sign Beel, but it was Burnley FC that were the successful bidding club. So in his nine years at Turf Moor, Beel scored a club record 178 league goals in 316 Division One appearances. In 1932 then, Beel returned to Lincoln City FC and scored six in nine league appearances. Rochdale AFC followed in 1933 for another twenty league appearances and eight goals. Beel retired as a player-manager at Tunbridge Wells Rangers FC in 1935.
