England's last match, the tenth of the 2025-26 season, against Costa Rica on

Monday, 11 May 2026 - Thomas Tuchel
has submitted a provisional squad of between 35 and 55 names, as per FIFA requirements.
That list will probably include those players included in the most
recent squads, but also includes Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrad
Branthwaite, Alex Scott, Luke Shaw and Danny
Welbeck.
Friday, 22 May 2026, 10am
- Thomas Tuchel names his 26-man World Cup Finals squad,
revealed in a live broadcast from the National Stadium via the England app. The squad was announced with a
film soundtracked by The Beatles’
Come Together.
Filmed in New York and directed by Keane Shaw and Pete Martin, the film revealed each player’s name brought to life across
the cityscape, bringing in subtle references to The Beatles and the
British Invasion during the 1960s. However, because of leaks since yesterday, the
squad is generally known, with no additional surprises.
The squad will come together from Monday 1 June at their
preperation camp in Palm Beach, Florida, excluding those players from Arsenal and Crystal Palace,
who will arrive following their respective European club finals. The
entire squad will then head to the team’s base in Kansas City on Saturday, 13 June.
Monday,
1 June 2026 - England, without Arsenal's Declan Rice, Noni
Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka plus Crystal Palace goalkeeper
Dean Henderson, have arrived in the United States to begin their tournament preparations.
Thomas Tuchel and a number of his squad flew from Birmingham Airport
(10.20am) to Florida today for their pre-World Cup camp in West Palm
Beach, on board a Virgin Atlantic Airbus A350-1041 (VIR697), arriving
at 6.38pm (2.38pm local time).
Tuesday, 2 June 2026 -
England's first training session takes place this morning, with temperatures forecast
at 28ᶜ to 31ᶜ. All 26 players are participating, with the reserves
covering for the Arsenal and Palace players.
At 3pm (BST), the
squad numbers were released.
Saturday, 6 June 2026 - England 1 New Zealand 0 - Thomas Tuchel fielded entirely different teams in each half as World Cup preparations continued with a narrow victory against New Zealand in Tampa.
Harry Kane, the team's ever-reliable captain, headed his 79th England goal in 113 games just seconds before half-time.
Tuchel then made wholesale changes, electing to look at most of his squad as the countdown continued to England's opening group game against Croatia.
Liverpool's 17-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha, who is not in the 26-player World Cup squad, was given his debut to become the fifth youngest player to represent the team.
The experimental nature of Tuchel's team was reflected in a low-key affair played in searing heat, but it will have proved to be a useful acclimatisation exercise before Wednesday's final pre-World Cup friendly against Costa Rica in Orlando.
Sunday, 7 June 2026 -
The four
Arsenal players join in training for the first time. Tuchel confirms
Declan Rice will be England's vice-captain throughout this summer's
campaign.
Tuesday, 9 June 2026 -
All 31 players are training at Palm Beach.
Wednesday, 10 June
2026 - England 3 Costa Rica 0 - England stepped up a gear in their final friendly before the World Cup with an impressive performance to beat Costa Rica in Orlando.
After kick-off was delayed for an hour by storms, Declan Rice gave England an early lead with a deflected shot as he took advantage of good work by new Barcelona signing Anthony Gordon.
Jude Bellingham started ahead of Morgan Rogers in the number 10 role and looked sharp as he pressed his claim to start in the team's World Cup opener against Croatia in Dallas on 17 June.
Bellingham put Noni Madueke through in the first half, only for the Arsenal forward to hit the post after rounding Costa Rica keeper Patrick Sequeira when he looked sure to find an empty net.
Real Madrid man Bellingham's brilliant run then helped England find a second goal after 68 minutes, when he set up substitute Eberechi Eze for a shot that was handled — Gordon scoring the resulting penalty.
Ollie Watkins came off the bench and pounced with a close-range header three minutes from the end to give England a victory margin that reflected their dominance.

Training match: Miami FC 0 England 6
-
The training ground game against the American second-tier side was
split into two sections, with England winning the first by a single
goal, and followed up with a 5-0 victory. Sources state that Ivan
Toney was the stand-out player, scoring a hat-trick. Jordan Henderson,
Ethan Nwaneri and a 'worldie' from Rio Ngumhoa. Rio's goal said to be
a 'breathtaking strike from distance'. Marc Guéhi and Kobbie Mainoo
also impressed. Alex Scott and Josh King also took part, and the four
youngsters will leave camp this weekend when the senior squad move on
to Kansas. The squad enjoyed a team-bonding meal in Miami tonight.
Saturday, 13 June 2026 - England were victims of a theft of their training equipment before their arrival in Kansas City
today.
The FA is trying to ascertain what was stolen, with balls and boots among the items feared to have been taken, after vehicles transferring equipment to their Swope Soccer Village base in Kansas City were broken into.
Thomas Tuchel left West Palm Beach International Airport at 10.42am and his squad arrived in Kansas City
Downtown Airport at 12.22pm, following a 2 hr 39 minute journey
onboard the Global X Airbus A320-214 (GXA601) this afternoon and the equipment was due to be in place beforehand.
Police officers, who are in touch with the FA, were on site on last night dealing with the matter.
It is understood two arrests have been made in connection with the episode.
A spokesman for Kansas Police said: "We are investigating a possible theft of equipment from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing this evening. The investigation is ongoing."
The theft could potentially disrupt some of Tuchel's preparation.
The England players will undertake their first full training day tomorrow. The majority of the equipment was recovered before the end of the day.
Tuesday, 16 June 2026 - Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento has been ruled out of England's World Cup campaign with a calf injury and has been replaced by Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
Livramento sustained the injury during a training session on Sunday.
Livramento's involvement in the tournament had already been in doubt after he missed the final five weeks of the season with a thigh injury.
Chalobah, who has one appearance, will not join up with the squad until after the Croatia match.
He is on his way to England's camp in Kansas City as the rest of the squad head to Dallas.
Outfield players who sustain a serious injury or illness can be replaced in a World Cup squad up to 24 hours before the team's first match of the tournament gets under way. Reece James is Tuchel's first choice at right-back but there are also question marks about his fitness, following another injury-plagued campaign.
The 26-year-old missed nine games for Chelsea at the end of the season because of a hamstring injury.
Other options who are already in the England squad include Djed Spence and Ezri Konsa.
Spence, who can play on both flanks, has featured six times under Tuchel while Konsa, predominantly a centre-back, has played 11 times, including nine starts.
Chalobah has not featured for England since June 2025 when he played the full 90 minutes in a friendly against Senegal, but was on the bench for multiple World Cup qualifiers under Tuchel.
Like Konsa, the 26-year-old's preferred position is centre-back. All other 25
players, including training goalkeeper Jason Steele, are working out
at Swope Soccer Village before flying to Dallas.
