Diary
Wednesday, 1 October 2025 -
Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento is set to be out for between six and eight weeks after suffering a knee injury in Sunday's defeat by Arsenal.
The full-back will miss England's internationals against Wales on 9 October and Latvia on 14 October, as well as the World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania next month.
Livramento was stretchered off the field after landing awkwardly in his side's 2-1 defeat at St James' Park.

Thomas Tuchel has named a 24-man squad to face Wales and Latvia next week.
There's a return for Arsenal's Bukayo Saka replacing the injured Noni Madueke,
which is the only change to last month's squad, with Ruben
Loftus-Cheek and Jarell Quansah retaining their places after being
late additions last month because of injury. Thomas Tuchel says he has "no problem" with Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden or Jack Grealish.
Bellingham has failed to earn a recall despite returning from a shoulder injury, while Foden and Grealish also miss out despite returning to form with Manchester City and Everton respectively.
Tuchel said Bellingham had wanted to be included in the squad, having spoken to the 22-year-old on the phone.
"He is a special player, and for special players there can always be special rules. But we decided to keep with the straightforward decision of inviting the same group.
Jude always deserves to be here. There is also the situation that he
has not quite gathered his full rhythm again at Real Madrid - he has
not finished a full match."
Tuchel was keen to stress his positive relationship with Bellingham after he was forced to apologise to the midfielder earlier this year for calling his behaviour on the pitch "repulsive" during a live interview.
Asked if he had a problem with Bellingham, Tuchel said: "No. There is also no problem with Phil Foden or Jack Grealish either. This is the decision, if they like it or not. They know my appreciation, they know I clearly see and observe how good Phil is at the moment for Manchester City.
Jack knows that I see how influential he is for Everton and is on the way to being the best version of himself. Jude knows he is a special player. He knows that I know he is a special player.
So, they have to accept it and nothing changes this decision against them or for the other players. It does not change my appreciation for their talent and personality."
Monday, 6 October 2025 - Manchester City defender Nico O'Reilly has received his first call up to the England squad following the withdrawal of Reece James.
Right-back James picked up an injury playing for Chelsea in their Premier League win against Liverpool on Saturday.
He posted a picture on Instagram of a gash on his shin following the game and has been ruled out "following medical assessments".
O'Reilly steps up from England Under-21s.
The 20-year-old predominantly plays left-back for City, leaving Djed Spence as the only recognised right-back in
the squad. The squad arrive at St. George's Park.
Wednesday morning, 8 October 2025 -
On the third day of training, 22 of the 24 players are out on one of
the St. George's Park pitches, with Harry Kane and Jarell Quansah
having personal programs indoors. Members of the under-20 squad have
been training with the senior team—Manchester United's Shea Lacey,
Chelsea's Harrison Murray-Campbell and Bromley's Lakyle Samuel, being
the chosen three.
Wednesday evening
- Harry Kane will not be picked for the match against Wales
tomorrow night after he picked up a knock in his last Bundesliga
match. He should be available again for the qualifier against Latvia,
and the captaincy will fall to one of Jordan Henderson, Declan Rice or
John Stones.
Thursday, 9 October
2025 - England 3 Wales 0 - England delivered another exciting attacking display to outclass an out-of-sorts Wales and stroll to victory in a friendly at Wembley.
Thomas Tuchel kept faith with the squad that secured the best win of his reign when beating Serbia 5-0 in the World Cup qualifier in Belgrade in September - and they delivered in style once more.
England ran Wales ragged in the opening stages, establishing a three-goal lead inside only 20 minutes.
Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers built on his excellent display in Serbia by turning home the opening goal from Marc Guéhi's cross after three minutes, with club team-mate Ollie Watkins making the most of his chance to deputise for injured captain Harry Kane by doubling England's lead from close range eight minutes later.
Bukayo Saka then became Arsenal's highest England goalscorer with a spectacular strike, curled high past Wales keeper Karl Darlow with his left foot. It was his 13th goal for his country.
Rogers also hit the woodwork after the break and, while Wales improved as England's tempo dropped, this was a routine and impressive win for Tuchel's side.
Saturday, 11 October 2025 -
Defender Jarell Quansah has pulled out of the England squad because of
a knee injury. The Bayer Leverkusen player returns to his club in what
is described as a 'precautionary measure'. There is no planned
replacement. The squad return to training at Tottenham Hotspur's
Training Centre at Enfield.
Monday,
13 October 2025 - England striker Ollie Watkins will miss the
World Cup qualifier against Latvia because of injury. The 29 year-old
was replaced at half-time of England's victory over Wales on Thursday.
Watkin's scored the second goal but collided with the post late in the
first half after missing an open goal. Thomas Tuchel said afterwards
that the Aston Villa striker was "OK" but he forward has returned to
his club. The final training camp at Tottenham Hotspur's training
ground is joined by Spurs' own Dane Scarlett, before they leave
Stanstead Airport at 3.27pm, on board an Icelandair Boeing 757-256
(ICE 1334), with a National Geographic livery, arriving at Rīgas lidosta at 5.49pm.
