Diary

Monday, 13 May 2013 - Fitness problems have denied Kevin Doyle a place in the Republic of Ireland squad to play three friendlies and a World Cup qualifier. The Wolves striker is due to have an Achilles operation but Robbie Keane has recovered from an ankle injury. Giovanni Trapattoni's side play England on 29 May before a friendly with Georgia on 2 June at the Aviva Stadium. The Republic face the Faroe Islands in a qualifier in Dublin on 7 June before playing Spain in New York on 11 June. Keane missed the last three games for LA Galaxy because of the ankle problem. There are returns for Spartak Moscow midfielder Aiden McGeady and Norwich's Anthony Pilkington. Trapattoni has indicated that Pilkington could earn his first cap against England although his availability for the remaining games is in doubt as he gets married two days after the Wembley game. Reading defender Alex Pearce also fails to make the squad along with Ciaran Clark who is ruled out by a foot injury. Villa defender Richard Dunne may train with the squad as he continues his recovery from a long-standing groin problem.

Monday, 20 May 2013 - Norwich City winger Anthony Pilkington has been withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad, the Football Association of Ireland has said.  Pilkington scored for the Canaries in their 3-2 win at Manchester City on Sunday, but because of a knee injury will not be fit, ans so has ruled himself out of the squad.

Tuesday, 21 May 2013 - Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane has been ruled out of next week's friendlies against England and Georgia because of club commitments.   Both matches fall outside the Fifa international window and Keane is required for club duty with LA Galaxy. Keane will return to the squad for the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands on 7 June and the friendly against Spain four days later. The game against the world and European champions is in New York.

Wednesday, 22 May 2013 - LA Galaxy have granted Robbie Keane permission to join up with the Republic of Ireland squad.  The FAI revealed that after further discussions with his club, Keane would be available to face England at Wembley and Georgia at the Aviva Stadium. "We've reached an agreement, which really means a lot to me. I would like to thank LA Galaxy for reconsidering their decision and enabling me to make it to the games. I look forward to playing my part."

Monday, 27 May 2013 - Paul Green has pulled out of Wednesday's friendly against England because of a hamstring injury. Giovanni Trapattoni has drafted in Hull City's Stephen Quinn as the replacement for the Leeds player. Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne, who did not play a game all season because of a persistent groin injury, joined the squad for training on today. It is thought the 33-year-old could play in Sunday's game against Georgia.

Tuesday, 28 May 2013 - Marc Wilson looks likely to be ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's friendly against England. Wilson is bothered by a calf strain and is unlikely to be risked with the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands coming up on 7 June. Sean St Ledger looks the favourite to partner John O'Shea in central defence.
