Diary

Wednesday, 29 July 2009 - Bert van Marwijk has announced his initial squad for the international friendly against England on 12 August. The former Feyenoord coach has invited 25 players for the match.  Veteran goalie Henk Timmer was dropped from the squad after having left Feyenoord this summer. The shot-stopper hasn't found a new club yet and is being replaced by Vitesse glovesman Piet Velthuizen.

Despite being out of favour at Real Madrid, playmaker Rafael van der Vaart and prolific striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar are both among the players who received an invitation.
Hamburger SV attacker Eljero Elia is also part of Van Marwijk's initial selection, but he will most likely be forced to withdraw from the squad due to a knee injury.

Sunday, 9 August 2009 - Bayern Munich captain Mark van Bommel has broken his toe and will be out of action for three to four weeks, the Bundesliga club said on Sunday.  In a statement, the club said the midfielder would have an operation on Monday after breaking the big toe and tearing a tendon in his right foot during the 1-1 draw at Hoffenheim on Saturday

Friday, 7 August 2009 - Giovanni van Bronckhorst will miss the second Eredivisie match of the season. Feyenoord will meet Vitesse on Sunday, but head coach Mario Been will be without his injured captain because of a knee injury.  Bronckhorst has been plagued by knee trouble ever since the friendly match against Sampdoria, and has decided to take some rest in order to let the injury fully recover.  Bronckhorst did participate in the club's first league match against NEC, but needed an injection in order to be able to play.

Tuesday, 11 August 2009 - Eljero Elia and Stijn Schaars are both doubts for the friendly match against England, with both carrying injuries.
