Diary

Thursday, 24 April 1969 - The Welsh FA announce a seventeen-man pool of players for the home internationals. WIth the exception of Duk Krzywicki, all are full internationals.

Friday, 25 April 1969 - The Welsh Football Association have announced that another six players are to stand-by to join the squad of seventeen.

Friday, 2 May 1969 - Wales suffered a triple blow when three of their key players, Mike England, Terry Hennessey and Peter Rodrigues, all withdrew. England has an ankle injury and will not only miss the internationals, but also Tottenham's league game and close season tour. Hennessey is also injured, but Rodrigues is needed by Leicester City, in their bid to avoid relegation, for matches against Ipswich Town to-morrow and Sunderland on Monday. He will be available for selection against England and Ireland next week. The Welsh FA have called up two replacements who were both on standby, Graham Moore and Green. Green joined his colleague is Chester yesterday, but Moore, who has been on tour with his club in Italy, will not arrive until to-day.

Saturday, 3 May 1969 - Wales 3 Scotland 5: The bald statement about the British Championship match at Wrexham to-day was that Scotland defeated Wales for the fiftieth time since the countries first met in 1876. The full story was that the result emerged from a game as strange as the environment in which it was played.
